PromptMed Receives Certified Urgent Care Designation
PromptMed (Columbus, Indiana) has been designated as a Certified Urgent Care by the Urgent Care Association of America. Certified Urgent Care indicates that PromptMed has an operating model consistent with consumer expectations for urgent care.
Consumers recognize that urgent care centers are unique facilities that play an important role in the health care system. However, there is a wide variation in the operating model of the America’s over 8,000 centers, making it difficult for consumers to identify which centers are best positioned to meet their urgent care needs. The Urgent Care Association of America has established the Certified Urgent Care (CUC) to identify urgent care facilities whose operating model is consistent with standard expectations for urgent care.
PromptMed advertises and accepts walk-in patients of all ages for a broad spectrum of illness, injury and disease especially during convenient evening and weekend hours. The center is equipped with diagnostic x-ray and lab services and has a provider available during all hours of operation to perform minor procedures such as setting fractures and suturing lacerations. PromptMed has met all Certified Urgent Care criteria as established by the Urgent Care Association of America.
Urgent care centers treat illness and injury that requires immediate, but not emergency, care. PromptMed providers can fill a need for your subscribers that may exist between primary care physicians and the hospital emergency department, especially during times a doctor’s appointment is not readily available. PromptMed’s ability to provide episodic care for acute, non-life threatening illness and injury is an important community resource, and keeps patients out of the emergency room for non-emergency care. This results in cost savings to both consumers – in the form of lower co-pays or deductible utilization – and employers in terms of total charges. More and more, individuals and companies are evaluating the availability of a strong local urgent care network when choosing their health plan benefits. Cooperation between patients, primary care physicians, emergency departments, payers and PromptMed providers can create a network of care options that will put the patient in the proper facility for the appropriate level of care.
